We bought the TC5 washer about a month ago to replace our existing washer, which is about 20 years old. The washer is significantly heavier than our last one. It has fast wash cycles and will fill the drum completely up when needed. On the standard wash cycle, you can actually wash a load of clothes faster than the dryer will dry a load of clothes.Clothes come out clean and smelling great. We are still getting used to the electronic knobs and wish they had mechanical knobs/controls on it. Other than that the only other thing is It is a little bit louder than our previous washing machine, but I guess that is due to the commercial nature of this machine. Our previous washing machine when spinning the clothes would get off center and would make the washing machine get off balance, and you had to open the lid and readjust the clothes. So far with the speed queen that has not been an issue. We have not had a load of clothes, get off balance or had to stop the washer to adjust the clothes. The spin cycles are pretty quiet and the clothes come out fairly dry. This thing is built like a tank. We love this washing machine and would recommend it to anyone.

We recently purchased the matte black Speed Queen TC5, and we absolutely love it. The exterior has a strong, durable metal feel - almost like a rhino liner on a pickup truck - which gives it a tough, premium look right out of the gate. And it's not just looks - this thing is clearly built with quality in mind. One feature we didn't realize we'd appreciate as much as we do is the ability to add items during the first portion of the wash cycle. Coming from a front-load GE washer, that option is something you don't think about until you have it again - and it's incredibly convenient when you inevitably forget a sock or towel. Another huge plus for us is that it doesn't skimp on water usage. If you have a large load, you can use the Deep Fill option, and the soak function is excellent for tougher stains. It's refreshing to have a washer that actually uses enough water to thoroughly clean clothes instead of trying to cut corners for the sake of efficiency ratings. All the reviews and videos we watched really sealed the deal for us, and after nearly 60 days of use, we can confidently say it has lived up to the hype. It took 2 machines to one that worked properly 1st

1st machine delivered was just dropped off. I hooked up the water supply and leveled machine. I ran a load of laundry and it was still pretty wet. Not good! I hand rung out load & dried. I started a second load and left for 30 minutes- came home and tub was still half full of water. I spun it out and quickly put it in the dryer. It was ok. Ran a third load next day and left for a couple hours and when I got home the tub was pretty full of water & water was still dribbling into the tub. I spun it out and removed the laundry. The I went back to the washer in about an hour and the water was still dribbling into the tub. Both hot and cold water. I turned off the water valves and it stopped. I called NFM for the next few days and finally they gave me a phone number to a Speed Queen repair company and the person there told me they might get back to me in the next few days if the repair team had time. She said they were busy. No one called back and it was 3 days later so I called NFM back and through a lengthy time on the phone I finally spoke with a person and told them the issue I was having with my new machine. She called me back and told me they would send out a new machine. A manager called me back and apologized and said they would send a new machine out on Sunday - that was Friday. Sunday 2 men brought out a new machine and installed it. Leveled it hooked up the hoses and he began running it through a wash cycle.. Immediately water began pouring water out all over my 2 year old wood floors in my laundry room, pantry and kitchen. We shut it off as soon as we realized what was happening. The installer realized he hadn't removed a plastic tub protector from inside the tub. We worked hard to sop up all the water. The 2 installers wreaked of having just smoked some prior to arrival. All seemed ok after that clean up! BUT, after they left I began running a load of colored laundry. Every was operating as it should it seemed. So I checked the connections for any leaking. Then I noticed the installer had hooked the hot and cold up backwards… go figure! I corrected that my self. Now the machine works well but it was one reallly messed up week. They did send out a company to check for any remaining moisture the next day! They said everything seemed dry. I've had a story to tell all of my friends and neighbors about the fiasco that buying what I considered to be the best washing machine available at this time! Now only time will tell!!! I wish I would had taken some pictures. I was very frustrated and never thought about taking photos. You take it from here! I never want to buy another washing machine again because I'll be 70 this year. I paid the big bucks, hoping it will last longer than me. What say you?

Through the years, it seemed every time we had to have a washer repaired, the repairman would always recommend a Speed Queen. I never understood this, since it cut down on their business. Finally after purchasing several different very well known brands, only to have them start giving us problems early on, we decided to finally bite the bullet and invest in a Speed Queen. I love the simplicity of this model, as i didnt want or need all the "bells and whistles". My husband and I are 75/80 years old, so I'm hoping this one will last the rest of our lives!

I'm hoping to get 20 years out of this machine as my previous Maytag only lasted 6 years...my machine I love so far( only one month or so of ownership) because it's so quiet ( unlike previous reviews) and the start button you barely touch it and it starts...the time to wash is about a half to a third of time to clean vs. my Maytag... also my clothes are a lot cleaner vs. My Maytag...my queen 👑 let's me know she's done washing with a cute bell sound..she needs a little crown on her👑✨I love the speed queen 👑! We had an older Speed Queen that was purchased by the previous owner of our home. We estimated the machine was 15 years old. Long story short, the transmission went out on it. WHAT A JOY TO HAVE FOUND THIS WASHER!

As a senior citizen, I remember how good our old washing machines were through the years -- simple workhorses that did their job effectively and quickly. About eight years ago, my last, old school washer finally gave up. Since then, I've owned two competitor's machines, the latter of which was a so-called "commercial" model that began it's life as brand new junk. That joke of a "commercial" washer spent 17 months under nearly constant repair, ending it's life with a faulty drain pump, following it's fifth (5th) control board replacement. Then, I learned that Speed Queen offered a phenomenal washer that could be purchased for residential use, one closely akin to the old school washers from yesteryear. I decided on the TC5, purchased it, and had it delivered the next day. This machine is INCREDIBLE! It is an old school type washing machine with a modern twist. It runs, performs, and sounds almost exactly like the old machines used to. It will fill all the way up with water, cleans the heck out of the clothes, and completes it's cycles quickly. Can't believe it! Thank you, Speed Queen, for making a REAL washing machine available to us!

Still trying to figure it out

Although I have read the manual instructions several times I am still struggling with things that used to be very simple on my old washer. For one thing the spin cycle is not very effective and I have to re-spin two or three times for each load. Then there is the lid problem. Opening and closing the lid now causes a hideous screech/squeak, although I have had the machine in operation just a little over one month. It didn't do this at first, it just developed in the last week from being a little squeaky to being unbearable. I can't believe this is happening on a brand new machine.

I worked with Speed Queen top loaders, front loaders ,gas dryers, and Drycleaning machines from 1983 until 2008. The machines today are built just as good as the commercial ones. The laundromat machines were there when I went to work and still running when I left. Wash like a professional with the no lid lock. Gets the clothes clean and easy to wipe down and maintain. I don't use powder detergent and very little softener after it dilutes in a cup. Cold water never dissolves beef fat too good. Love my Speed Queen TC5. I've had several people buy one after pitching my washing like a pro lessons

Was told that you could open the lid to add clothes - I believed that the washer would continue to fill while doing so but no - everything stops until the lid is closed. When set to " normal Eco" it uses no hot water at all - no matter the wash temperature setting . In the instructions it states that it uses less hot water - I was washing clothes for months thinking that the water temperature was warm . Washer vibrates so much that you can feel it a floor below. In the spirit of full disclosure my wife stated that she liked the washer.

Love the washer BUT I use liquid detergent. I miss being able to open the door and rinse my dispenser out in the running water! Now I'm having to wait for water to fill some and then open it to rinse. Otherwise it runs down the jug and soap on the bottle. This is my only complaint. Wish it was a little bigger tub in ut not too bad. Otherwise it is great.

Up front I have to admit I'm still grieving the loss of my 33 year old Maytag that was a work horse. That said, I'd been researching washers for years for whenever it had to be replaced and I already knew I wanted the SQ TC 500. I was fortunate that there was one open box model available for next day delivery at a reduced price. I've been trying out different wash cycles, water temperatures etc. I have a water softener, so only need 1 Tbsp. of Dr. Bronner's Sal's Suds to do a whole load. Every load has come out nice and clean in a short amount of time. Unlike other reviewers, I did not find the machine to be noisy and it's just off my kitchen. And I appreciate not having a lid lock. I look forward to many years of faithful service.

SQ washer replaced a GE washer that didn't last 5 years! OMG, the quality of the SQ is unbelievable! How fast the water fills the tub, and how it actually fills the tub. No lid lock!!! It has an agitator. Quality, Quality, Quality!!! Best investment, ever! I love it!!! The clothes are super clean!

We bought a new Maytag 1 year ago and I thought I would love it.... After using it for awhile, I had it moved to the basement and got a new Speed Queen and I love it. Only takes a little over 30 minutes to do a full load and everything comes out clean. I will now only get a Speed Queen. No comparison to other washers! After we got ours, my sister got one too!

The washing machine really cleans clothes, spins them very near to dry and does not go off balance. The machine is sturdy, easy to use, has metal parts and has the ability to actually fill the tub when needed.

For the combined reason of high-quality construction and minimalism. The Speed Queen provides the absolute best of both. Installation took minutes, balancing was easy, and you can tell immediately that the washer is robust and well engineered. The price for the value is fair, especially when you recognize the long term cost avoidance by purchasing one Speed Queen over purchasing multiple low quality appliances - coupled with the frustration. I bought this washed based on reviews and from a family member's suggestion and I am so disappointed. It doesn't clean my laundry well and if I try to use the center part for fabric softener, I end up with spots all over my laundry. I reached out to the company to see if there was a warranty or satisfaction warranty and they told me to contact the retailer I purchased it from. I will probably be replacing it because I really dislike it. Save your money!
