Whirlpool WHD560CHW Ventless Dryer

pws2026 7/1/2026

Dryer resets to factory settings after each Regular/Normal cycle with no way to override. Dryer door too large so fingers get pinched when opening. Dryer could have more clearance on bottom to enable cleaning underneath.

JUNK

mdp! 6/23/2026

We had troubel with this from the start and despite our warranty, Whirlpool just kept sending repair people who could not fix it and told us that the machines are junk. We basically dry for 20 minutes at a time and then have to stop and it often turns off entirely because the lint is a problem but you cant access the worst of it without taking the machine apart. JUNK. dont buy it -and it is definitely not a savings for the environment giving that it takes up to four hours to dry a towel .

Is installed in our apartment complex and makes the apartment like a sauna. It raises the temperature by at least 10ndegrees, takes way too long to dry even a small load of clothes. Really needs an exhaust fan of some kind to get rid of the humid air

2nd dryer of same model w/same issue + other issue

Mark Fear 4/30/2026

This 2nd dryer (model Whd560chw2) was replaced by whirlpool in the first week of March 2026 and already has same water leak issue plus apparent motor & control board issues. The dryer no longer runs after only 4 loads over about a months time. I called for service when the water leak occurred. Then I go to run the dryer to dry a pair of jeans, the machine would not even run and was blinking lights. The repair technician came and took the dryer apart and diagnosed that it needed a new motor and a possible control board. I expected the repair company who was assigned by Whirlpool to have the parts within a week and come back to repair the dryer. I have contacted the repair company and they advised they have the control board as of April 13th, but are still waiting on the motor that is apparently now on back order and was supposed to be in on April 27th. I contacted Whirlpool and they advised they have a 7 - 10 parts delivery timeframe, but it has been over 3 weeks with no idea when the motor will be available, so it has been about a month without a working dryer. This is unacceptable customer service on the part of Whirlpool. When I called Whirlpool today April 29th, they try to tell me that I would have to contact the repair company, but the repair company advised me that they order the parts direct from Whirlpool and they have no control over when parts are received from them. Whirlpool customer rep advised me, after being on hold for several minutes and asking to speak with a supervisor or manager, that one would call me back within 4 hours of our call at 4:20pm. No one has called me back. Not surprised as it seems Whirlpool does not care about their customers. Whirlpool should not have a 7 - 10 day waiting period to get a part delivered to an approved service provider. Whirlpool should not make a customer wait that long to get their under warranty machine repaired, especially since the machine is only a month old and is the replacement for the same model that had a water pump & control board replaced and then had a leaking compressor.

Runs forever and the clothes are still wet around

Donte catoni 3/25/2026

I'm so unhappy with this dryer. It broke after one month. To get an appointment to get it fixed is another disaster. This company doesn't care about its customers at all. The telephone system sucks and the website is terrible. Be prepared to be on, hold for 20 minutes minimum.

NOT A FAN

Not a Fan 3/10/2026

Planned to buy LG when we moved into this condo but the developers already supplied the washer and dryer as part of the ownership. I wish that wasn™€™t the case. I feel the same about the dryer as I do about the washer - it™€™s only a 1-star appliance. More buttons do not make these appliances better. I never do large loads and even at that it takes the 1-hour and 48 minutes cycle to MAYBE dry the load. Even at the heavy, bulky settings the temperature is warm at best. It™€™s very frustrating. Oh, and what™€™s the 3-second timer for? Just another button to make it look like it™€™s a 5-star? Sorry, I™€™m not a fan.

Great product but some annoying maintenance issues

Owen 6/21/2025

We've had this dryer for four years. We tax it pretty heavily with our family of four. Drying performance is great, drying times are a bit longer than regular dryers but that's not a problem. We've had to replace the main motor once (for those who are hearing a loud screeching sound, that's what it is), and the drain pump once (a similar but quieter screeching sound). It's annoying that the heat exchanger isn't more accessible and easy to clean, but even with heavy use in a house full of dogs, it actually didn't have much fluff inside when I cleaned it out one time.

tkfinn97 6/13/2025

I bought this and it didn't work out of the box. After trying several things...different cycles, longer drying time, timed dry...I caved and called Whirpool to send out repairman. They looked for several in the area, and after finding none, replaced my dryer free of cost. Set up delivery and take away of the old dryer, and the new one works amazing. I love it, and it is great to have a ventless dryer in a place where a standard one never would have worked without extensive remodel. The drying time is longer than standard (around 90 minutes), but it is worth it to me!

The dryer can also take a very long time to dry a relatively small batch of laundry.

Donna34 2/18/2025

I bought this dryer less than a month ago and Whirlpool says it will not help with a replacement- We placed our dryer in the garage, no mentioned we should not place it in the garage as it works off of ambient air. So the dyer works but it doesn't get hot enough to dryer the clothes. they keep wanting to send out more technicians to look at it even though they say there is nothing wrong. They told me to move my dryer do a different location, who has the option to do that? I can move it outside, which from what they are telling n=me will make it worse as I live in the mountains.

I hate this dryer

dryerhaterxoxo 2/18/2025

We bought this less than a year ago and it is one of the most infuriating products I have ever purchased in my life. It's now refused to dry clothes in anything resembling a timely manner, the freaking lint catch has destroyed multiple shirts, shorts, bras, you name it. Today I took the clothes out and they were completely tangled with the lint catch that was also somehow twisted and melted?! Steer clear of this demon product that belongs in the depths of hell or one of those anger rooms to be beaten to pieces. At less than a year old, neither Home Depot nor Whirlpool will accept exchanges or a refund. All Whirlpool will do is come out and service it. Both companies are disappointing me and I feel bad for how annoyed I am with their customer service reps who don't deserve my wrath, but here we are. This dryer is draining my will to live.

Do not buy this junk

Anna 2/8/2025

This dryers has many issues. 1. The sound of drying - high pitch noise - supper annoying. 2. It doesn't like big bedding sheets - it wraps them into a ball and it doesn't dry bedding really well. I have to do two cycles. 3. After one cycle of drying it is impossible to turn on any drying program, because the machine starts sensing the hot air from the previous cycle and thinks that everything is dry. So to override this stupidity I can only turn it on if I use "Timed Dry" option. So much for energy efficiency! Who designed this? You people should be ashamed. I bought this dryer, because it was the only heat pump big load dryer on the market. I have a feeling I will replace it with a new one when another brand will come to the market with a big heat pump dryer. Until then I have to live with this piece of junk.

Terribly disappointing product and service

Elizabeth 2/5/2025

Have purchased this dryer end of 2022 and started using in 2023 and has already broken. This is a second home and do not use often. Bought at Best Buy and tried to get a service call but technician did not show up as I have a Canadian number and the technician was unable to call us. Best Buy had no solution Called Whirlpool and they referred me to Flamingo appliances for repair they came once charged $149 service charge and said they need to come back the following week for broken parts and could cost a couple of hundred dollars more. The day of the second service call the service provider does not show up. I have a dryer that cost $1,400 that still is not working and unable to get service Very disappointing Do not purchase this appliance Purchased and using in US and getting response from Canadian site which cannot assist?..

Makes horrible loud squealing noise

Desperate10 2/5/2025

It™€™s not even a year of its use, the ventless dryer WHD560CHW started to make loud squealing noise which is intermittent in nature. The technicians have come 3 times but they don™€™t find any problem. One of them heard the noise but didn™€™t find a problem. We even showed them the video of dryer making loud noise. The noise is so loud even with room closed and it™€™s not possible to work from home. We have 4 years extended warranty but of no use since the technicians don™€™t find any problem. We want the dryer to be replaced, but whirlpool is not accepting to replace the dryer or fix it. Hope there is no heat generated and no fire hazard. Desperately finding a solution!

Works great with proper upkeep

NetzeroB 2/1/2025

Had this unit for a few years now. Works fine and saves lots of money/energy. Don't expect hot crisp clothes like you would with a traditional unit. These dry without needing the high temps that traditional units require. Recommend cleaning the secondary (fine screen) lint filter every other load. Every 6 months vacuum out the secondary lint filter chamber and screen in front of the evaporator. After the warranty is up, use a utility knife cut out the screen. Now you can spray evaporator coil cleaner directly into the coils at the 6 months cleanings, rinse with plenty of in a spray bottle and visually confirm the coil is clean. Turn the unit on to pump out the water as needed. Mine still drys the clothes in about the same time the washer needs to clean them, so we can keep loads going continuously.

Longing for dry clothes 1/30/2025

Yes- its a big energy saver becuase we end up air drying all our clothes. If you expect dry clothes from a drier, DO NOT BUY THIS drier. We've had it for 2 years and it is hugely frustrating. I long for dry clothes. We can run multiple cycles and the result is the same. We don't overfill the dryer and follow the cleaning to the T. I cannot believe I've waited this ling but we are trashing this worthless piece of technology and getting the real thing!

Lint collection design flaw causing fire risk.

Thomas from Colorado 1/11/2025

Do not buy this unit! We needed vent free as we have a highly energy efficient house that makes vented dryers very problematic. This unit has a terrible lint collection system that allows fine lint to accumulate on the condenser coils. This has potential fire ignition risk if the coil becomes hot enough to ignite the lint. As other reviews have noted, the condenser coil cannot be accessed without nearly fully disassembling the entire dryer unit. My work around is to put high pressure compressed air through the coils from the back of the unit with a shop vac running simultaneously from the front. I have considered cutting the final ™€œlast chance™€ wire screen out to allow direct access. And then fabricating something removable. But the time involved and definite listing ™€œviolation™€ is pushing me to switch to LG or Samsung. But only after I assess their respective lint collection designs. And yes, we clean the lower lint screen after every load. And we vacuum the interior to of the vent cavity once a week.

Effective heat pump dryer

jay234 1/8/2025

So far, so good. The dryer (as expected) takes a little longer to dry, but it is easy to use and reliable. I do clean both lint traps after every load and haven't had too much of a problem getting lint on the mesh screen that separates the lower lint trap from the condenser coils. I do wish the lower lint trap was a bit sturdier; it feels like it could break, but it's been fine so far. It seems to me that either whirlpool has changed the lint trap design or that some reviewers didn't understand the importance of regularly cleaning their lint trap on a heat pump dryer (compared to a traditional vented dryer)

Service required every two years, manual pg10

Malibu 1/6/2025

I bought the dryer 3yrs ago and is having issues drying. It filled with lint in places that cannot be reached without opening the dryer and voiding warranty. The Dryer needs to be completely opened up. The whirlpool will point you to the manual, page 10, to say that it NEEDS to be serviced every two years at the cost of $300-$500 a pop. Within 4yrs, you will pay nearly as much for service than the dryer is worth. Avoid

Slow dry time, lint collector from hell.

Cjberg 1/2/2025

I have a Whirlpool duet hybrid care ventless dryer. Earlier model but it seems as though the same issues persist. This is perhaps the least efficient appliance you will ever buy. Because it requires hours to do a single load. In the last 5 years I have had to pull the dryer out of our laundry room and disassemble it screw by screw taking off the top, removing the drum, removing all of the sealed parts on the inside, in order to vacuum out or pull out handfuls of lint that have on each occasion filled an entire contractors trash bag. It is absurd how poorly this dryer functions. We keep the back vacuummed out but it doesn't matter because the lint never makes it to the blower in the back. It gets stuck inside and packed in so tight it's like Rockwool insulation. I promise you will regret owning this dryer. Unless Whirlpool fixes whatever issues are causing the lint to pass through into the guts of this thing do not buy. It will work for a month or two after cleaning it out but given that it takes probably 6 hours to pull it apart and clean it out I would not recommend counting on this as an option.

Horrible dryer!

CD70 12/29/2024

I have never been so disappointed with an appliance in my life. It takes HOURS for a load to dry. I dried a load with 3 bath towels and 2 hand towels for 9 total hours yesterday. This is the worst dryer I have ever had! Absolutely ridiculous!

Needed new part after first use

Whirlpool dryer 11/12/2024

Received my new dryer and after the first day I noticed it was leaking water. Whirlpool advised me it was a problem with installation so I contacted Lowes to check the installation of the machine. Seems like it wasn't the installation at all but the pump tube in the back of the unit that needed to be changed. I should have known after reviewing the reviews that this machine was going to cause problems.

Don't do it

Lephty 11/11/2024

Garbage. Takes 2 hours MINIMUM to dry a small load. If this is supposed to be an energy-saving dryer, I'd say it's not saving much energy.

The access door to bottom filter never closed and I have had tape on it since day 1.
