**CLOCK** when the microwave is just sitting idle there is no clock that appears. When you open the door the clock appears and then done cooking something the clocks says on for 2 mintutes only then disappears again Also, when using the oven below you have NO CLOCK
Called BOSCH and they said the microwave goes into an eco saving mode so it the clock doesnt appear on the microwave

We first got one of these durring a kitchen remodel in 2019, by 2020 the unit's display was dimming and the wave guard was failing and they replaced the entire unit under warranty. Then on the replacement unit the wave guard failed in 2023 and the screen was dimming, and now I have just had to replace the fuse inside it twice and the door switches. This is a poorly designed product with low quality parts that will fail and I would highly recomend not buying one.

We have been using our new Microwave-Wall Oven Combo for about 6 weeks. We bought this to replace an ~15 year old Bosch Wall Oven combo when the microwave crapped out. Our intention of sticking with a Bosch unit was to get a very similar size combo oven to avoid any cabinet rework. Although the spec information for the new oven showed it would be the same size, it actually turned out to be 2 inches shorter, so we now have a gap at the bottom after placing the unit on boards to raise it to avoid a gap at the top.
Functionally, both the microwave and oven units work as you expect. We do like the physical knobs to set the oven (bake/broil/convention and temperature) - I considered this a good selling point. The digital displays are clear and intiutive. However, a few things to note that may make you think twice about buying this product:
1) the unit is noisey when the oven is on. There is an exterior fan that runs and is very noticeable from a noise prespective and you feel it when you're close to the unit. We didn't have this in our previous Bosch unit so we are somewhat annoyed having to listen to it when using the oven.
2) this unit does take some time to heat up, and it doesn't have a fast pre-heat mode.
3) when using the microwave, the beep/alarm to signal that it's done is too too quiet. It comes with a setting to adjust the beep, but even on the loudest setting, it is very difficult to hear. (others have noted this as well).
4) the microwave door opens like an oven door. So for short people, they may have trouble reaching in the unit, especially to clean it. Unfortunately other brands have chosen to go with this type of door opening as well. Why?
5) the unit is NOT fingerprint resistant. This really surprised us and we're disappointed in Bosch on this, especially given the cost of the unit.
Overall, for the price we paid and now knowing what we do know, I probably would have gone with a less expense brand.

Though the original installer sent by our appliance store had not idea how to install these properly and installed them wrong, one it was installed correclty, both th emicorwave and the oven have been great. Very veratile. Great temperature control in the oven. Nice control panels. Excellent featues.

We built our home and purchased all Bosch appliances for our kitchen thinking it was a reputable and high quality brand that's stood behind their products. But, after only 4 years of regular use, this overpriced microwave died and also shorted out every circuit it was plugged into.
Bosch Customer Service's response was: "sorry, your unit is out of warranty." No help other than to give me a list of appliance repair companies I have to pay for out of pocket and an offer of a meager discount on replacement parts assuming the unit could be repaired.
It is just TRAGIC that Bosch, a company that used to have a good reputation, is now only using that reputation to overcharge customers for appliances that are made to no better standard than those I can buy at Walmart. The impression I'm left with is that Bosch is just putting their logo on cheaply made junk and hoping to get away with it. No appliance that costs this much should last only 4 years. The irony is that I had to drag my 20-year-old Sunbeam microwave out of storage as a temporary replacement, an guess what - it still works!
Shame on Bosch for hiding behind a warranty to cover for low quality and leaving customers to deal with it.

We have these appliances brand new in our house. The microwave constantly shorts out and blows the fuse. Because it's connected to our oven, it is a nightmare to replace and Bosch's approved customer service technicians are outrageously overpriced to replace a fuse that costs a couple bucks. There is clearly a performance/electronic issue that causes it to blow the fuse every couple months. Not worth the money, frustration and headache of owning this.

I purchased a Bosch HMB50152UC microwave in late 2019 as part of a $5,000+ oven–microwave combination, and shortly after the one‑year warranty expired, the fuse failed. I paid $400 for a repair, but the fuse blew again within three months, and I was later told this was due to a known door‑switch design flaw. Since then, I have replaced the door switches twice and the fuse countless times, yet each repair lasts only a few months before the unit fails again. We had to replace our built in microwave so decided to replace both the microwave and oven. There are so many options out there but we ended up choosing the Bosch 500 Series. Of course we were nervous about this unit as we had a reliable unit for 20 years. The next day after install was Thanksgiving and wow, this unit blew away all my expectations. I was able to cook everything at one time which I could not do with my old unit. I then did all my Christmas baking 2 weeks later and wow, this made my job much easier to bake more sheets of cookies at one time. I am extremely happy with my choice of Bosch.

I bought this unit right before thanksgiving as I had a 20 year GE unit go out and no part available. I was rather nervous and lost sleep for a few nights. The unit was delivered and installed the day before thanksgiving and it is beautiful. The day of Thanksgiving I roasted my turkey and as that was sitting I was able to bake 2 9x13 pans, 1 9x9 pan, 1 sheet pan of roasted potatos with room to spare. This oven has more space than my previous unit. The unit is quiet and gives me everything I can expect and more. The microwave is also quiet and heats/melts/defrosts perfectly.

The microwave is part of an over/under stove combo. It looks great and works well. We recently had to replace the original microwave (5 years old) and wanted to keep the look. I thought 5 years wasn't a very impressive lifespan for a microwave. Also, as the middle of the road version (500 series), it was about 10x more expensive than a comparable countertop microwave.

Every function of this beautifully crafted microwave oven is exceptional. The "sensor reheat" works like a charm. The "melt butter" works perfectly but in small amounts at a time; I have to run it a couple of times for larger portions. The quiet door is beautiful and QUIET. The only thing I have not figured out is how to keep the time displayed. Not sure if it is an energy saver option or not.

Have replaced the WaveGuide Cover 3 times. Now, only 2 years later and out of warrantee, forced to replace the magnetron. Too bad it is tied to the awesome oven, below.

I love the heating and cooling period. Most of all, I LOVE that my 3 year old can stand behind the oven and watch the cookies bake without burning her hand. Great oven, great microwave, great amount of space and it fitted beautifully in the space we had without us having to make any adjustments with a carpenter.

Disappointing Performance from a Premium Microwave

I expected much more from a microwave that retails for over $1500. It was installed as part of a kitchen rebuild. After just four years of light use, the control panel suddenly failed, rendering the unit non-functional. This is unacceptable for such an expensive appliance. For comparison, my previous microwave cost under $100 and lasted over 16 years without a single issue.
Even before the failure, the display panel had dimmed to the point it was unreadable on sunny days - a problem I now see others have reported. On top of that, the oven heats some microwave-safe plates to the point where they burn your hands when you take them out. These same plates were used safely in other microwaves for years, so it's clearly a design flaw with this unit.
Between the unreliable electronics and safety concerns, I wouldn't recommend Bosch appliances to anyone expecting quality and longevity from high-end products.

I am very pleased with the operation, appearance, and functionality of my new BOSCH Built-In Microwave. The only thing that was disappointing was the built in energy efficient clock. The clock turns off after a couple of minutes. I wish there was a way to have my clock on at all times as that is the clock I used to use the most with my other microwave. Eye level for me! Other than that, it has proven to be a good microwave so far.

This microwave suffers from what many other fail to do ... backlit buttons. Are the Bosch folks never up after sunset ? Otherwise it's fine. Too many buttons/features I'll never use. Overpriced Buttons not suitable for diabetics. I guess I won't win the prize??

The loudness control is insufficient. One must stand in front of the microwave to hear it, even when it is set to loud. Secondly, the selection panel should be backlit so it can be viewed more easily. Perhaps a back light could come on when the panel is touched.

Bought this brand new as part of a renovation in Jan 2024. Moved in in August. Had the arcing issue on the back wall. Unit dead after 7 months of light usage.
Bosch says it is out of warranty, which it technically is, but no courtesy for a 15-month-old product, which cost $1,450.
They now want to charge $179 for a technician to show up and $200 per labor hour plus parts.
I don't think so. Will just replace the unit with a better-quality brand, where the manufacturer stands behind the product.

My microwave died after only 14 months of use. The keypad worked beautifully, but the heating mechanism caught fire in the roof of the microwave. It was only a one year warranty, so it was $1700 down the drain. (And for those wondering, I was the one reheating food when it caught fire. There was no metal or anything that should not have been put in the microwave that would have caused this.) I was both shocked and horrified that the warranty was not any better for a clear mechanical failure. I wish they would focus less on design and more on function. Regret not listening to the one selling me the appliance who told me Bosch was not reliable.
The quote to repair was over $750. (and I would still have burn marks on the top of my microwave.)

Bought this 2.5 years ago for our kitchen remodel. Was microwaving a ceramic bowl of soup when the unit just turned off. Had a Bosch repair person assess and a fuse inside microwave is blown. Did some research online to find that this is a common problem with this model. Unclear what made the fuse blow at this time but I think likely a door switch based on what I have read. I have a feeling it will just blow again once fixed if the door switches aren't replaced. Seems like this should be a recall based on how many threads there are out there describing similar issues. We did not have the display dimming problem like other people described. It will be almost $500 to have this unit fixed with labor and parts!

I am disappointed that when the end of cooking alarm sounds you can't hear it. I have it set on high(3) and unless you are standing by the stove you can't hear it. Needs to be much louder. Additional when setting cooking time you can only enter minutes -- no seconds. You also have enter 1 more minute that you want, i.e., if you want to time for 5 minutes you must enter 6 because went you press start it resets timer to one minute less than you entered.

Installed new by builder 5 year old unit. Started sparking with normal microwave use. Waited on hold for 15 minutes to get techical support. Gave up and went to YouTube. Suggestions to replace both the diode and magnetron. Simple enough. The old magnetron was visibly fried. Problem persists. I will buy a new microwave but it will not be a Bosch

It is an amazing appliance: beautiful, high quality, and for the first year worked wonderfully. After one year, it started to glitch out. After setting the microwave time and power levels and pushing start, it would randomly stop before the preset time limit. We have to pay for a technician to come out and diagnose it and we are NOT happy about that.

This microwave oven has several useful functions that make it quick and easy to perform tasks such softening or melting chocolate or butter. My only complaint is that it is nearly impossible to clean and wipe up any spills. The door pulls down and since the microwave is installed up high above the oven, I need to stand on a chair to reach the back of the microwave to clean.

After using MW for a couple of months I called for service on it to fix dim lit clock and low volume timer. Service tech showed up and replaced circuit board on gas stove which was having the same issues. However did not make any changes on MW because he said "this is how it was engineered". The dim light on clock and sleep mode were not disclosed at purchase and it something we deal with. But the low volume on the timer is ridiculous. If there is any noise in the kitchen, the timer ending sound can not be heard and there are times no sound is heard. The adjustments for sound and brightness do not change levels. Tech made it sound as if this was a known problem or design flaw and again, never disclosed to us a purchase. Truely disappointed with this product. If I could, I would replace it in a heartbeat!

I purchased this microwave 4 weeks ago and the Bosch technician just confirmed that the Magnetron is busted and they will need to send me a new microwave (which could take in excess of several weeks/months - no one knows for sure). Sad thing is that my old Bosch microwave from 2017 had to be replaced for this exact issue (broken Magnetron) and the technician assured me that the new ones did not have this issue anymore. Their dishwashers are amazing... not sure why they can't seem to get this $1500 microwave manufactured correctly.

We filled our kitchen with all Bosch appliances thinking that we would have good quality products and services. Unfortunately we were wrong.
This was a combination oven - microwave and oven, and the microwave started sparking which freaked me out because I didn't know if this was going to blow up in my face. Thankfully it didn't. The first customer service representative I spoke to said they would send out a service person to do a safety check, paid for by Bosch, and that they would see from there how to proceed. I was told by the service person that the magnetron had failed, and that it had caused damage inside the microwave. I could either spend upwards of $900 to get it and the transformer replaced, but that it would be a 50/50 chance of it happening again, and having to pay another $900, and that the smarter option would be to just get a new microwave.
I called Bosch again to let them know the results of the service and the new lady on the phone told me flat out the warranty had expired and I was on my own.
EXTREMELY disappointing considering how much we paid for this product. 5 years on this almost $1500 microwave is basically tantamount to paying $300/year for it. My mother has had her cheap microwave for over 15 years with no problems.
Plus I second everyone else's complaints about the door opening down making it ridiculously difficult to get stuff in and out, and clean (we always have to have a stepstool nearby), as well as the dim lighting on the display, both of which we just put up with.
Not to mention the dishwasher we have has had to be serviced 2 times already. The only good thing right now is that the oven and refrigerator still work well.
I will NOT be buying another Bosch product, ever.

We have not been impressed with any of the appliances but the microwave has been the bane of my existence. Not even 2 years in it died. We were told it was a simple fuse fix. Well that simple fix was $900. A year later it happened again. Another $900 to fix!! It just happened again. Instead of fixing we are replacing all of the Bosch appliances in our not even 5 year old home.

We have been so happy with all our bosch appliances but unfortunately we have been displeased and quite frankly upset about our microwave at only 1 year of use, sparking flames while warming up oatmeal. The flames literally burnt a whole on the top of a metal plate inside microwave. It was scary. The metal panel was replaced a month ago. Today the bosch microwave made a sudden loud popping sound only 5 seconds into warming up a tortilla. Upsetting. 1 year in.

We love the look and ease of using the Bosch microwave. The plus 30 seconds button is a great feature as is the oversized turntable which allows for platters and larger casserole dishes. Our previous microwave was slightly smaller but had a higher power 1100 W versus 950W on this one. We are finding it an adjustment to figure out how much time is needed to cook or reheat items and even using the three popcorn settings, none has cooked the microwave popcorn fully even when matched with the correct size of the package.
